Finding the Right Community and Neighborhood

You may be familiar with your area that you have in mind. Perhaps you have friends or family there. Or you may be attracted by new homes and schools. Maybe you prefer the walking community with dog parks and coffee shops.  It all depends on what you value.  But the neighborhood that you choose can have a big impact on your life and your family's.  And there is no better way to learn about a neighborhood than by visiting it.

Tips for Finding the Perfect Community and Neighborhood

  • Make a list of the activities - see how far you have to travel from each neighborhood.
  • Check out the school - learn about the many programs each school has to offer.
  • Find out if the neighborhood is safe - Consider the number of crime, type and the increasing or decreasing statistics.
  • Talk to the neighbors - ask them what they like and dislike about the neighborhood.
  • Drive around the neighborhood - at different times of the day, night, and peak hours.
  • Look at other homes in the neighborhood - how well are they maintain will give you an indicator of the homeowners' attitudes.

But no matter what, select the neighborhood that feels like home!
